Sigh. Kids today.

Riley woke up today at 6:30. That sucked. Marci got up and put him back in bed, but, of course, he wanted his lights and radio on. So on they went. It's really lousy, you know. I'd just as soon not give him his way, but if we don't, then we're all up at 6:30.

He was quiet for about 20 minutes, then he had to go to the bathroom. That came and went and he stayed quiet until about 7:30, when I finally got up with him. No big deal, I suppose.

Anyway, he didn't have a nap today, but that's nothing out of the ordinary. He actually behaves pretty well, considering.

Tonight we went to Marci's friend's house for dinner. Haley and Rye played with their kids all night. We headed out about 8:30. Both kids practically fell asleep in the car. I got Haley dressed and teeth brushed. She fussed a bit, but fell asleep probably a little after 9. Riley, on the other hand, is just now falling asleep. But not after major drama.

He was dead to the world, but still in his clothes, and no diaper. Even thought he's been dry overnight lately, we weren't ready to start him in underwear without him going to the bathroom before bed. So we tried to change him into a diaper and pjs. Big mistake. He freaked out because he didn't want the diaper and pjs. He freaked out because he didn't want Marci to change him. And, of course, he didn't want me to change him. So we locked him in his room and he went apeshit for half an hour.

Finally, I went in and tried to calm him. At this point, he's shrieking and completely exhausted and out of control. Nothing I did would help. Marci tried again, to no avail. So we left him again. He finally passed out in front of his door, naked, like before. Marci went in to try to change him again and of course, he freaked out.

She just came out of his room and now he's asleep with a diaper on. It's incredible that he can be so g.d. hardheaded about everything. It is incredibly aggravating and exhausting to deal with this crap every night.

Anyway, it's finally over and now we can relax. London fog, here I come.
